Customer FAQs
What are Gifts4u.ie and Craftgifts.ie?
Gifts4u.ie and Craftgifts.ie are related Irish online marketplaces bringing together products from a range of independent sellers.
Gifts4u.ie has a broad gifting focus, helping customers shop by recipient, occasion, product type, price and other useful product features.
Craftgifts.ie is more specifically focused on Irish craft, handmade, artisan and personalised products.
Who supplies the products?
Products are supplied by independent sellers using the marketplace.
Each seller is responsible for their own product information, availability, preparation and dispatch, while the marketplace provides the platform through which customers can browse and purchase.
Can I order products from more than one seller?
Yes.
If your order contains products from different sellers, the items may be prepared and dispatched separately. This means parts of the same order may arrive in different packages or on different days.
How can I find the right gift?
You can browse our main categories or use the available product filters to narrow your search.
Depending on the product, filters may include:
- recipient;
- occasion;
- price;
- product type;
- personalisation;
- colour;
- material;
- Irish-made or Irish-related features; and
- other product-specific characteristics.
Using the filters is often the quickest way to find products suited to what you are looking for.
Are all products made in Ireland?
No.
Gifts4u.ie is a broader gifting marketplace and is not restricted to Irish-made products.
Where a product is made in Ireland, Irish-designed or has another particular Irish connection, this should be identified in the relevant product information or features.
If you are specifically looking for Irish craft, handmade, artisan or personalised products, Craftgifts.ie is designed around that focus.
Can I buy personalised gifts?
Yes. Many sellers offer personalised or made-to-order products.
Where personalisation is available, the options should be shown on the product page.
Please check names, dates, spellings and other personalisation details carefully before completing your order.
Can I contact a seller before ordering?
Where seller contact facilities are available, you can contact the seller with questions about a product before placing your order.
This can be particularly useful for questions about:
- personalisation;
- custom orders;
- colours;
- sizes;
- materials;
- preparation times; or
- other product-specific details.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Preparation and delivery times vary depending on the seller and the product.
Handmade, personalised and made-to-order products may require additional preparation time before dispatch.
Please check the individual product information before ordering.
Why have only some items from my order arrived?
If you purchased products from more than one seller, your order may be dispatched in separate packages.
Each seller may have different preparation and delivery times.
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery charges depend on the seller, the products ordered and the delivery method available.
Applicable delivery charges will be shown during the ordering or checkout process.
Some products or sellers may also offer free delivery.
Can I return a product?
Return and cancellation rights depend on the product and the circumstances.
Certain personalised or made-to-order products may not qualify for a change-of-mind cancellation once they have been made specifically for you.
This does not affect your statutory rights where goods are faulty, damaged, not as described or where another legal remedy applies.
Please check the applicable returns information before placing your order.
What should I do if my order arrives damaged or there is a problem?
Contact the relevant seller as soon as reasonably possible and explain the problem.
Photographs of the product and packaging may help the seller investigate the issue quickly.
Can I send an order directly to the person receiving the gift?
Yes. Enter the recipient's delivery address during checkout.
Where gift messages, gift wrapping or other gifting options are available, these should be shown on the relevant product page.
Can I buy a gift voucher?
Yes.
Our gift vouchers can be used across both Gifts4u.ie and Craftgifts.ie, subject to the applicable voucher terms.
This gives the recipient a wider choice of products across both marketplaces.
Do I need an account to place an order?
The available checkout options will be shown when placing your order.
Having an account can make it easier to review previous orders and manage your marketplace activity.
How do I check the status of my order?
If you have an account, you can review your order information through your account area.
You may also receive order and dispatch notifications by email.
Where an order contains products from different sellers, different parts of the order may have separate dispatch times.
How do I contact you?
For questions about a particular product or an existing order, contacting the relevant seller is generally the quickest option.
For questions about the marketplace itself, your account or another general matter, please use the Contact Us page.
Seller FAQs
What is the difference between Gifts4u.ie and Craftgifts.ie?
Craftgifts.ie is focused primarily on Irish craft, handmade, artisan and personalised products.
Gifts4u.ie has a broader gifting focus and includes products suitable for occasions, recipients, seasonal gifting and general gift shopping.
Some products may be suitable for both marketplaces, while others may only be appropriate for one.
Can I sell my products on both marketplaces?
Where your products are suitable, they can be made available across both Gifts4u.ie and Craftgifts.ie.
Products should only be assigned to the storefronts, categories and product features that genuinely apply to them.
Why are correct category assignments important?
Categories help customers understand what type of product they are viewing and allow the marketplace to organise products logically.
Products should only be assigned to categories that genuinely describe them.
Placing products in unrelated categories can confuse customers, weaken category relevance, make navigation less useful and reduce the overall quality of category pages.
More category assignments are not necessarily better. Accurate category assignments are better.
Can incorrect category assignments affect Google visibility?
They can.
Search engines such as Google analyse the relevance, structure and overall content of category pages to understand what those pages are about.
If a category contains large numbers of products that do not genuinely belong there, the page becomes less focused and less useful. That can make it harder for search engines to understand the purpose of the page and can weaken its ability to perform well in search results.
Sellers should therefore prioritise accurate category placement rather than trying to place products in as many categories as possible.
Are product features important?
Yes. Product features are extremely important.
In many cases, features are more important to customers finding your products than assigning those products to a large number of categories.
Features may identify:
- recipient;
- occasion;
- colour;
- material;
- personalisation;
- product type;
- style;
- Irish origin or connection; and
- other relevant product characteristics.
Customers use these features to filter and narrow down the products they are interested in.
Should I put my product into every category that could loosely apply?
No.
Only use categories that genuinely describe the product.
A product should not be put into a category simply because someone could theoretically buy it for that recipient or occasion.
Broader suitability for recipients and occasions should normally be handled through the appropriate product features.
What should I use as the main category?
The main category should be the category that most accurately describes what the product actually is.
Other genuinely relevant categories can be added where appropriate, but the main category should remain the clearest description of the product.
How should I select recipient and occasion information?
Use the appropriate product features wherever possible.
For example, a product may be suitable for Mum, Dad, children, teachers, birthdays, weddings, Christmas or another occasion.
These are often better represented through features than by placing the product into numerous unrelated product categories.
What information should every product contain?
Each product should have, where applicable:
- a clear and accurate product name;
- a useful product description;
- good-quality images;
- the correct main category;
- any additional genuinely relevant categories;
- all applicable product features;
- accurate pricing;
- stock or availability information;
- delivery information;
- personalisation options; and
- preparation or lead times where relevant.
What makes a good product title?
A product title should clearly describe what the product is.
Avoid unnecessary repetition, excessive capital letters, keyword stuffing or unrelated promotional wording.
A customer should be able to understand the product from the title alone.
What makes a good product description?
A useful product description should explain:
- what the product is;
- what it is made from;
- relevant dimensions or sizing;
- available colours or variations;
- personalisation options;
- how it is made, where relevant;
- who or what occasions it may be suitable for; and
- any preparation or delivery information the customer needs to know.
The description should primarily be written to help the customer make an informed buying decision.
How should I use product images?
Use clear, good-quality images that accurately represent the product being sold.
Where possible, include images showing:
- the complete product;
- important details;
- size or scale;
- available variations; and
- examples of personalisation where relevant.
What if my product is personalised or made to order?
Make this clear on the product page.
Where applicable, state:
- what can be personalised;
- what information the customer must provide;
- any character or wording limits;
- available colours, sizes or options;
- expected preparation time; and
- anything else the customer needs to know before ordering.
Can I import or copy product information from another marketplace?
Product information can be imported or reused where appropriate, but every listing should be reviewed before publication.
Imported information may need changes to:
- categories;
- product features;
- formatting;
- images;
- pricing;
- delivery information; and
- marketplace-specific information.
Do not assume that an imported product is ready to publish without reviewing it.
Who is responsible for product information?
Sellers are responsible for ensuring that their product information is accurate, current and not misleading.
This includes product titles, descriptions, images, prices, availability, delivery information and personalisation options.
Who is responsible for fulfilling an order?
The seller supplying the product is responsible for preparing and dispatching that product.
If a customer purchases from several sellers, each seller may fulfil their own part of the order separately.
How quickly should I dispatch an order?
Orders should be prepared and dispatched within the times stated on the product page.
If an unexpected delay occurs, communicate with the customer promptly.
What should I do if a customer contacts me?
Respond promptly, professionally and clearly.
Product-specific questions are generally best answered by the seller because you know the product, available options and production requirements.
Do products on Gifts4u.ie need to be handmade?
No.
Gifts4u.ie has a broader scope than Craftgifts.ie, so products do not necessarily need to be handmade.
Products must, however, be appropriate for the Gifts4u.ie marketplace and comply with the applicable marketplace requirements.
How can I improve the chances of customers finding my products?
The most important steps are:
- use accurate categories;
- complete all relevant product features;
- write clear product titles;
- provide useful descriptions;
- upload good-quality images;
- provide accurate delivery information;
- keep stock and availability information current; and
- review your listings regularly.
Do not rely on assigning products to excessive numbers of categories. Accurate categories and well-completed product features are considerably more useful.
Can marketplace administrators change my category assignments?
Yes.
Marketplace administration may review or correct category assignments, product features or other listing information where necessary to maintain accurate navigation, filtering and presentation across the marketplace.
Sellers should also periodically review their own listings to make sure their categories and features remain accurate.
How do I apply to become a seller?
Use the seller application facility on the relevant marketplace and provide the requested business and product information.
Applications are reviewed before seller access is approved.
